It’s been way too long…….

Hey guys, I’ll be honest I’ve probably not updated the website as often as I should so sorry about this, I will try and be more on it for the future.

Lots has been going on in the world of cyclo cross and has been fantastic fun for those following me on social media will have seen!

Anyway soon as I have some real news and race reports I’ll get some more published for you all.

Cheers Jack

Wheelie good fun summer so far!

So over the last few week a lot has happened! We have had sun rain and even the hands in the air!

Racing started 6 Weeks ago with the first summer cyclocross at newsome Huddersfield, where a first lap crash caused me to drop back to 50+ in the race. After 30 minutes of torture I managed to fight back to the front of the race where I finished 3rd and left me hungry for round 2!
Round 2 came in the delightful setting Otley and with my bad luck from round 1 behind me I hungry for a win! With competition coming from both Nick Barnes and Ian Taylor it was never going to be an easy battle for me! After a tough 40 minutes of racing I managed to take my first chicken dinner (winner) of 2014 with a last lap attack giving me about a 10 second buffer over Taylor!
My training is starting to luck positive for the forthcoming season and happy with my progress so far this year!

Out cafe racing with Ian field!

So over the next few weeks I have some more summer cyclo cross races planned and a block of open races planned to hopefully take me to the end of June! If tan lines show then that’s just a bonus!

Cheers for looking guys!!!

A little review on SRAM’s XX1 group set and what’s next for jack ?

Recently jack has got a new mountain bike featuring SRAMs revolutionary xx1 11 speed group set.

Jack has set it up with a 34 tooth front ring at the moment on a hardtail 29er mountain bike.

Here’s jack thoughts…

I rode the xx1 for the first time a few weeks ago and to be honest I wasn’t taken to the idea but I have to say it is a complete different world to everything I’ve ridden before! I be tried to get chain slap in every gear but the clutch mechanism just won’t let you! I’m running a 34 chainring at the moment and think this is great for racing but going to try a 36t for local riding and training as just feels like I spin it out a bit too much!

Setting up the gears seems to be a little more temperamental initially but I have had no trouble on the trails since !

The only downside I can find to it is the price however it is still well worth it for the performance of the product!

Please see a few pictures at the bottom of the page of jacks setup!

So with the summer now here or should we say slowly coming I asked jack what the plans for the next month or so are?

I’m fully focused on cyclocross this year so the summer is going to be spent mainly training with a couple of races on Tuesday evenings at Tameside (circuit series) and am going to try do most of yorkshires summer cyclocross series but this depends on how it works with training etc first one been the end of the month in Huddersfield

If you have any questions you want to put to jack on the xx1 or his plans for the summer feel free to contact us!

Jacks longest ride ever!

Jacks been on the cycling scene for the best part of 4 years now and finding this hard to believe for most people, He’s never ridden 100 mile before!

Jacks Longest training ride previously was 98 miles However We are pleased to announce that his longest ride is now 121 miles. Jack who is based in Halifax took the advantage of the pretty good sunny weather we have had recently and rode to Lythm St’annes near blackpool on the west coast.

His journey started with the growing popular Calder valley to Hebden Bridge where he then took the quieter country roads over the tops via mytholm steeps and the long causeway before dropping in to burnley. hi route then went across to accrington blackburn preston before finally reaching his mid ride point in Lythm.

After a quick stop at costa it was time for the return journey home.

Jack in “Totally Locally” shopping promo video

Jack recently featured in a brilliant short film shot for the Pennine Prospects – ‘Totally Locally’ shop local campaign.

There’s a bit of maths that says if you spend £10 in a local shop that sells stuff from local producers the amount of money that goes back into economy can be over £50!

Jack, who was working in the Hebden Bridge cycle shop, Blazing Saddles, at the time, appears on bike as “The Monkey Wrench”, surprise, surprise!
